Repatriating Ahead of Schedule
Hello, Internet! Just a quick note to announce I've pulled up stakes yet again to go write amazing lessons and projects at Mathalicious. I imagine it's indicative of how excited I am about the work we're going to be doing, that it prompted me to move away from Buenos Aires, after one term, at a great school in a great city. My reasons for leaving the classroom now are as complicated and personal as they are boring. Also, I'm a little busy with my second international move in six months, which I do NOT recommend for a peaceful path in life. So I'm not going to explain myself, at least not right now. I am not sure what is going to happen in this space, but I doubt I'm going to run out of things to say any time soon.

Congratulations Kate! Life is crazy, but if you go with it you'll find happiness someday. Hope you keep writing your blog (I think I started reading it on a tip from Dan Meyer...) and I can't wait to learn more about Mathalicious. Good luck!

I followed you in Buenos Aires ... now it is possible that I can follow you and live in the same city? I teach at Charlottesville High School in Charlottesville, VA. Its a great place to live!
Mathalicious is really lucky to have you, and we're all lucky to be able to benefit from your work there. Thanks for your continued contributions to our world.
I haven't commented before, but I really enjoy your blog. I am also excited to check out Mathalicious. I am a first year, 6th grade math teacher really looking to help my district change their math curriculum to better align with the CCSSM and make math more relevant and engaging for kids!
I hope whatever's going on in your life is ok and that the new opportunity is as amazing for you as it sounds :) Keep us updated.
Bueno suerte, y creo que Mathalicious ha recibido un gran fuerza en ti. Haznos un favor, y no deja de escribir aquí!

Hello Kate,
I just wanted to say thanks for sharing this blog with the world over the past few years, and I hope that you can continue to post about your new journey. I am a high school math teacher, too, and I have found this to be a gold mine of activities as well as a comforting affirmation of our experiences and feelings as teachers. Once you are settled in your new home and job, if you are open to sharing your professional reasons for the switch, I (and I'm sure many other readers) would love to hear. I am only 4 years into this career, and I LOVE my students and my work, but I often question how I can possibly maintain my level of work and actually have a life. I really don't know how people do it. If you have any insights about teacher resilience, balance, etc. I would love to hear.
Best of luck to you on this next adventure! I think you're amazing!
You had mentioned the lack of math candidates at international hiring conferences. Wondering if you have advice for a middle/high school teacher with three kids, a wife, a dog, and two cats in terms of getting hired.
I think some schools are more willing to consider candidates with lots of dependents than others? There are certainly many international teachers with families. I'd say apply to as many places as you can, be flexible on location, and good luck!
